Respecting life's pace and preserving more choices for the future
Important stages of life do not have to follow exactly the same timetable. As women's autonomy over career development, quality of life, and family planning continues to grow, fertility preservation has gradually become a reproductive health option worthy of attention.
Oocyte cryopreservation is a method of fertility preservation in which oocytes are collected through medical technology and stored under specific low-temperature conditions. Women who meet the relevant medical conditions and wish to preserve more options for future childbearing can learn about its suitability through professional assessment.
Japan Mizuho Reproductive Center combines Japanese reproductive medicine resources with a refined medical service philosophy to provide women with relevant needs with professional assessment, medical plan development, and medical visit coordination support.
01 / Preservation Technology
Vitrification Technology and Oocyte Management
Oocyte vitrification technology uses rapid cooling and corresponding cryoprotective measures to place oocytes into a low-temperature preservation state, for future consideration and use when medical and legal conditions are met.
Compared with traditional slow-cooling methods, vitrification helps reduce the risk of cell damage caused by ice crystal formation during preservation and is currently one of the important technologies for oocyte preservation.
The preservation outcome of oocytes is related to factors such as age at the time of preservation, oocyte maturity, laboratory conditions, and subsequent thawing techniques. Not all preserved oocytes will successfully fertilize or form embryos suitable for subsequent treatment, so it is necessary to have an objective understanding of the relevant expectations.
02 / Plan Development
From Health Assessment to Preservation Plan
Oocyte preservation involves multiple medical steps and requires an appropriate plan to be developed based on a doctor's assessment.
Before entering the treatment cycle, doctors usually assess ovarian reserve based on age, anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), basal hormone levels, and ultrasound findings, and develop an ovarian stimulation protocol according to the individual's physical condition.
During treatment, doctors evaluate ovarian response based on follicle development and necessary hormone test results. Once the relevant conditions are met, egg retrieval is performed, the laboratory assesses the oocytes, and mature oocytes that meet preservation requirements undergo vitrification and cryogenic storage.
For cross-border medical clients, they should also understand in advance the timing of the trip to Japan, follow-up arrangements, storage period, renewal conditions, and subsequent fees, so that the entire medical plan is clearer.
03 / Long-term Planning
Safeguarding future plans with a prudent medical attitude
Oocyte preservation can preserve an option for future childbearing, but it cannot prevent the natural aging of the body, nor does it mean that a successful pregnancy will definitely be achieved in the future.
Mizuho values each woman's personal planning and health status, and in the medical consultation process focuses on information transparency, personal privacy, and long-term storage arrangements, helping clients fully understand the applicable conditions and limitations of the relevant technologies.
On the basis of scientific assessment and full informed consent, incorporate fertility preservation into personal health planning rather than regarding it as a guarantee of future reproductive outcomes.
